About to Catholics with Love
I became a
Christian at nineteen. This was after going to a non Catholic church of and own
while growing up and going to a Catholic school during my high school years. It
was a radical change in my life and I experience our Fathers love in a way that
changed me for ever.
I have spent most
of my life working to draw people into an intimate relationship with our Father
in heaven. As an evangelist it has been my goal to lead people into a saving,
born again relationship with our Father through Jesus. As a Christian who is
madly in love with Jesus and our Father, I have always strove to lead believers
into a deeper intimacy with Jesus and our Father.
Whether working
with Catholics or non Catholics there are always things that stand in the way
of growing close to the Father. One is that it is hard for most people to
believe that the creator of the universe really does love you individually and
that he really does want to have a relationship with you. Another is the idea
that I have to do good works to earn the right for Him to love me. One of the
biggest hindrances is trusting in your church or pastor/priest to get you to
heaven.
One of the big
problems in both Catholic and non Catholic churches is when certain teachings of
the church hinder your relationship with the Father. This is a little harder to
identify in non Catholic churches because each congregation and denomination
can have minor differences in doctrine. While this is true in the Catholic
Church as well, there is a core doctrinal system that is consistent in most
Catholic churches.
The biggest
teaching or belief that both groups have is the idea that you can only be saved
in your church or denomination. Your salvation and relationship with the Father
is his to determine and his alone. Your church plays no role in salvation nor
do you need it to develop intimacy with Jesus and the Father. Your church and
Christian friends should encourage you in your relationship with Jesus a Father
but not try to be in between you and the father.
As a non Catholic
pastor and evangelist most of my work has been done among non Catholics. I have
always had a heart for my Catholic friends and family and want to see them
develop a close relationship with Jesus and the father just as I do with non
Catholics. I have worked with many Catholics over the years and love every one
of them. Many have come to know Jesus personally for the first time.
While working with
my Catholic friends, I have noticed several teachings that hinder a person’s
ability to draw near to the Father. I want the major focus of the blog to be on
how to develop and grow with your intimacy with Jesus and the Father. I will
also be have posts about the teachings of the Catholic Church that I feel
hinder you in your relationship with Jesus and the Father. These posts are not
meant to be an attack on your or the Catholic Church. Some of these posts will
be challenging too many Catholics because they deal with long held beliefs. I
will compare these teachings to the Bible (the teachings of the apostles) and
the teachings of the early church (the Christian writers of the first three
centuries of the Church). The most I can ask of you is to pray about these
things and take a close look at what the apostles said about them.
It is my prayer
and hope for your whether you are a Catholic or not is that you will fall
deeply in love with Jesus and the Father and that that love will constantly
grow.
